CAMPUS CAREER DAY

Educational program designed to introduce middle and high school age youth to a career path in broadcast TV, streaming, and live event production.

Program Overview

Campus Career Day is an in-school, 6 hour interactive program designed for middle & high school students to experience a taste of the broadcast and live event production profession.  It’s hosted by industry professionals who work on real life projects everyday.

Each program can host approximately 15-50 kids and is designed for grades 6-12, and requires students to be out of class for most of the school day. The mission of this program is to expose the youth to career opportunities in TV and media production that they otherwise may not have considered.

SCHEDULE A CAREER DAY

  • Scholars will set up cameras and record a segment that can be used later as part of their portfolio.

    Scholars will be producing the recording using the latest production technology.

  • Scholars will work as stagehands setting up the demonstration area. We will teach them how to build tripods, panheads, cameras and support equipment.

  • Scholars will set up the audio console and get the sound from the audio console into the video switcher and route the sound to a video recording device.

  • To sign up, a school administrator must contact us by completing the inquiry and interest form on our website. Someone from our organization will reach out and schedule a time, date, number of participants, and to discuss logistics and scope of the experience. 

    We host Xperiences during the week and on Saturdays. Xperiences  are not available on Sundays. 

    Currently, the school must also be located in the State of Georgia, with a focus on schools in the Metro Atlanta area. It must be a middle school or high school. We hope to expand to schools out of state in the 2024-2025 calendar year.

  • Yes. We ask the schools to provide at least 1 chaperone per 15 students. Additionally, schools may elect to waive the travel package* in exchange for providing adequate hotels, fuel cards, or other options and remedies the school or school district may be privy to in lieu of a direct payment. Meals, snacks, and beverages are also greatly appreciated throughout the day. 

    In addition to chaperones, we also need volunteers. Volunteers will assist with unloading the trucks, staging equipment, passing the mic for Q&A,  packing up equipment, and putting gear back on the truck.

    We also ask that schools assist with having students fill out an online entrance  survey at least 3-10 days prior to the Campus Career Day event taking place at your school. This information will allow us to create a call sheet and assign roles to students in advance, helping the program move along at a smooth pace. 

    Power will also be a necessary requirement. We will travel with a small, portable generator as well that will need to be set up outdoors near an exit. For larger audiences, we may need to rent a small generator to power the amount of equipment needed. 

    Finally, schools will need to provide a solid internet connection that will not limit the access that we have. Please let us know in advance if your internet system has firewalls or other restrictions. 

    All students will need to be seated in chairs or bleachers.

  • Our experiences are scalable and can accommodate as few as 15 students as many as 250 students. The fewer students, the more intimate and immersive the learning environment will be allowing for more hands-on time per individual. Schools should advise the booking administrator of approximately how many students will be in attendance so that we can provide the appropriate number of staff and equipment.

  • The Production Rockstar Academy is headquartered in Atlanta, GA. Schools that are more than 2 hours driving from our location will require overnight accommodations. The above price includes hotel accommodations, per diem and mileage (within the State of GA).

    In the event that a school or school district wishes to provide accommodations, hotels can be credited at a rate of $250/night/per person. This amount will be deducted from the total. A minimum of a 3-Star hotel or better must be provided. No motels, inns, etc are acceptable and the preference is hotels are Marriott, Hilton, or boutique hotel properties in the safest area possible.
